HOIST® Prepares for Big Game Hunting Season with Melissa Bachman

CINCINNATI, Ohio, (July 31, 2024) – In many regions, hunters use the thick of summer to start preparing for a successful hunting season ahead. With this in mind, HOIST®, an innovator in the hydration industry, is excited to collaborate with Melissa Bachman to share hunting preparation tips and highlight the importance of staying hydrated throughout this preparation process.

“Preparing for hunting season is essential for maximizing every opportunity in the field. I like to use time in the summer to set up stands, scout for game and make sure I’m set for success," said Winchester Deadly Passion’s Melissa Bachman. "This means some long days out in the heat, so I’m always looking for the best way to stay energized. The HOIST electrolyte drinks and powder sticks have been a great resource as I move through my preparation list.”

Melissa Bachman’s Key Tips for a Successful Hunting Season

  1. Maintaining physical fitness and hydration year-round ensures you can endure long hours of hiking and carrying gear. Bringing a hydration pack on your trek with water and hydration powders like HOIST powder sticks is an easy way to ensure you’re prepared.

  2. Familiarize yourself with local hunting regulations and ensure licenses and permits are up-to-date.

  3. Begin scouting well before the season to pattern your game and identify travel routes, bedding areas and feeding locations.

  4. When using trail cameras, position the cameras near trails, water sources, scrapes or rubs, fence gaps and on food sources in order to monitor activity of the big game you’re planning to hunt without disturbing their patterns.

  5. Learn to identify which bucks hang together in bachelor groups, as they often remain in the same group through the first few weeks of the season. This can significantly improve your odds, as spotting one buck usually means the others are nearby and can be very beneficial when hunting season begins.

  6. Planting food plots in late summer can greatly enhance your hunting success by attracting game later in the season and rewarding your early efforts.

  7. Use topographic maps and aerial imagery to pinpoint potential stand locations and travel corridors.

  8. Whether you are an archery hunter or a gun hunter, use the off-season to practice shooting regularly to maintain and improve your accuracy. Use this time to determine your maximum effective range and understand the limitations of both you and your gear. This prevents the temptation to take shots in the field that exceed your capabilities.

These early season hunting tips can significantly enhance the chances of a successful hunt, and with HOIST IV-Level hydration, hunters can enhance their endurance, focus and overall safety while preparing for a successful hunt. It's important to hydrate properly in order to combat the heat, and prepare for any dehydration symptoms like fatigue, decreased concentration and impaired decision-making. This is essential for enduring long hours discing up and planting food plots, bush hogging, hanging stands or during strenuous activities like scouting and carrying gear.

"We’re thrilled to team up with Melissa and share her expert knowledge on all things big game hunting," said HOIST Director of Marketing Taryn Lawson. “These tips, paired with a ready supply of HOIST flavors like Blaze Orange, are the tools that hunters need to prepare for success this fall. The combination of hydration and preparation is the secret weapon for peak performance and safety in the great outdoors."

HOIST is well-integrated into the hunting and outdoors space. In January, HOIST collaborated with Realtree, leading outdoor lifestyle brand in the hunting industry, to launch the Blaze Orange flavor. Blaze Orange features the citrusy-sweet HOIST original orange flavor and comes in a bottle that’s wrapped in Realtree’s APX pattern.

HOIST IV-level drinks offer quick and refreshing hydration options, available in bottlespowder sticks, and liquid pouches. As one of three electrolyte beverages approved for use by the U.S. Department of Defense, HOIST is a well-known hydration drink that is widely used for its ability to improve performance and maintain peak physical and mental health. Its formula is built to ensure effective hydration and can help hunters be prepared to take to the outdoors for any adventure.

Outdoor Stewards of Conservation Foundation Presenting at NRA Range Development Conference

MIDDLEBURY, Conn. - July 24, 2024 - Outdoor Stewards of Conservation Foundation’s (OSCF) Executive Director, Jim Curcuruto, will be presenting at the NRA Range Development and Operations Conference in Denver, July 31 – August 1, 2024.

Held by the National Rifle Association, the conference is designed to educate potential and current range owners and operators in identifying issues and pitfalls associated with range development, environmental issues and safety. Attendees will receive a multidisciplinary perspective on major topics such as business planning, EPA lead standards, construction, sound abatement, ADA compliance, ventilation, funding and grants, NRA programs, training opportunities and much more.

Curcuruto will be presenting preliminary results from a current OSCF research project focusing on ‘Welcoming New Target Shooters’ to the world of recreational target shooting. Curcuruto notes, “past research we’ve conducted identified that more than 10 million American’s have purchased their first firearm over the past few years. Many of these new gun owners are not actively practicing or participating in recreational target shooting. This OSCF research provides key insights into how to best welcome new target shooters and make them want to go to the range more often.”

The goal of the Range Development & Operations Conference is to give attendees a forum to share their knowledge, and ensure the public has a safe and convenient place to shoot in order to exercise their Second Amendment rights. For more information on this conference and topic, contact NRA Range Services at range@nrahq.org or 877-NRA-RANGE.
