INMAN, S.C. – July 3, 2019 – Professional angler and TrueTimber brand ambassador Edwin Evers wrapped up the Major League Fishing (MLF) Bass Pro Tour season with the most points, earning him the title of Points Champion at the close of Stage Eight. After eight regular-season events and an incredibly tight race between competitor Jeff Sprague, Evers closed the gap and won the title with an all-in total of 510 points for the 2019 Bass Pro Tour Season.
“As an angler, it’s a lifelong dream to win a title like this,” Evers said. “Somebody said to me earlier, ‘Well, if you don’t win, you did win an event.’ But I’d trade that event win in a heartbeat to win a Points Championship. I had a great first half of the season that allowed me to not have to finish as high (in Stage Eight). A (Points Championship) is the biggest thing in our sport, and I’m just thrilled and honored to win it.”
Holding the points lead through five of the eight events, Evers adds the title to an already impressive career. With a second-place finish in MLF Bass Pro Tour Stage One, a dominating win in Stage Two and fourth in Stage Three, Evers pulled in three top-five finishes for the season and moves on to the REDCREST Bass Pro Tour Championship in La Crosse, Wisconsin from August 21-25, 2019.
“It’s truly an honor to witness Edwin’s success on and off the water,” said TrueTimber CEO Rusty Sellars. “Easily one of the most successful bass anglers in the sport, Edwin is
is not only a talented angler, but he shares our passion for hunting and the outdoors and is an all-around great person. This title is well-deserved, and we’re proud to have him representing the TrueTimber brand.”
A sponsor of the MLF Bass Pro Tour, TrueTimber has debuted a new television commercial featuring Evers that aired all season during MLF Live coverage. It will also hit the airwaves when MLF comes to television and cable networks later this year. The commercial can be viewed here.
The Bass Pro Tour will head to La Crosse, Wisconsin on August 21, 2019 for the REDCREST Bass Pro Tour Championship. The Upper Mississippi River will host the top 30 anglers who accumulated the most qualifying points over the course of the 2019 Bass Pro Tour’s eight-event season, including Points Champion Evers.
