Award-Winning Stevens 334 Rifles Now Available

WESTFIELD, Massachusetts – June 26, 2023 – Savage Arms is now shipping the 334 Stevens Rifles that debuted earlier this year. Both the Walnut and Synthetic models are now shipping nationwide. The Walnut version chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor also recently drew high praise in the annual and extensive Outdoor Life gun test.

With a two-stage adjustable trigger, the Stevens 334 bolt action rifle comes in a Turkish Walnut stock option with a silver bolt or a black synthetic stock with a matte black action to match. This rifle is offered in three popular calibers with a 60-degree bolt lift to allow faster loading on follow up shots, making it a suitable rifle option for any hunter or shooter.

The response to these rifles by retailers has been strong, and Savage expects to see large numbers of these rifles on ranges this summer and in the woods this fall. Outdoor Life further legitimized these value-driven rifles in their most recent gun test. Held each year, there are no favorites, shortcuts or edit buttons in this all-out test of the latest rifles the industry has to offer. Amongst its peers (and several priced significantly higher), the 334 performed extraordinarily and took home the “Great Buy, Hunting Rifle” award.

“The Stevens 334 Walnut was the most surprising gun of the rifle test,” wrote Outdoor Life Shooting Editor John B. Snow. “While the stock is nice enough, the metalwork and design of the action is basic—though in keeping with the rifle’s modest $489 price tag.”

“But handsome is as handsome does, and the Stevens 334 charmed the entire test team once we started shooting it for accuracy. Its five-shot groups averaged less than ¾ MOA, making it one of the most accurate rifles of the test, and easily the most accurate hunting rifle we evaluated. It shoots way better than it has any right to, was our collective takeaway.”

The Stevens 334 Rifles pack features and performance into an affordable and reliable rifle. They are available in several make-sense calibers and can be found nationwide.

Savage Announces Latest Episode of Savage Journeys: The Duren Family Farm

WESTFIELD, Massachusetts – June 22, 2023 – Savage Arms announces the release of its latest Savage Journeys episode: The Duren Family Farm. This complete story, by Savage Journeys and Savage Arms Affiliate Doug Duren, follows the 400 acre farm that’s revolutionizing conservation and community. This farm has been in Duren’s family for 120 years, and is located near Cazenovia, in a portion of southwest Wisconsin known as the Driftless Area. The farm contains extensive farming and wood spaces–it’s here that Duren encourages conservation through a new project. One that allows visitors access to his land in exchange for their assistance with maintenance and management projects on the farm.

Viewers can follow along as Duren provides the backstory on this farming and hunting project that is thriving on his family’s land. He attributes the project’s success to its values, which are rooted in the works of Aldo Leopold. Many people know Leopold as a pioneer in wildlife conservation and are familiar with his life story and major accomplishments. Leopold’s collection of essays “A Sand County Almanac” is iconic in many conservation, environmental and hunting communities–and Duren will be the first to agree with its importance.

“Leopold, that little book, and his other essays have continued to speak to me throughout my life,” Duren said. He adds that, “Leopold and a fascinating project: The Riley Game Cooperative,” were a great inspiration to this experiment in conservation on his farm. “At Riley, Leopold and some folks from town became friends with a group of local farmers. They worked together to improve marginal land for all wildlife, especially game species. Cooperatively they shared the work, the hunting and recreation benefits of their efforts.” This Riley Game Cooperative is greatly similar to the operation run by Duren, shown in this Savage Journeys story.

Viewers will watch how Duren invited new folks to his family’s 400 acres to participate in a trade. Visitors arrive to assist Duren with projects around the farm, and in turn, each volunteer receives access to the land for foraging and hunting. The experiment was a success, with volunteers becoming friends, and the cooperative itself growing over time. This project fosters connection amongst people, resulting in a community that’s based on shared experiences, camaraderie and a great appreciation for the outdoors.

The success of Duren’s project continues with the accompanied creation of Sharing the Land, a conservation cooperators network which Duren started in 2020. It serves to connect landowners with those seeking hunting access. Today landowners in eight states have joined Sharing the Land, 30 properties are part of the network and more than 300 people have signed up as access seekers - proving that The Duren Family Farm experiment is not only beneficial to the land, but successful for encouraging community and conservation efforts over time.

This Savage Journeys episode will debut on June 22nd on the Savage Arms website and through its social channels. For more information on Savage Arms and Savage Journeys, visit the Savage Arms homepage.

Team Savage Shooter Matt Alwine Wins NRL Hunter Series Match

WESTFIELD, Massachusetts – June 13, 2023 – Savage Arms is proud to announce Team Savage shooter Matt Alwine’s win this past weekend in Cody, Wyoming. Located on Sheep Mountain, the NRL Hunter Series, “Gunwerks’ Sheep Mountain Shootout” was held from June 9th - 11th. It was here that Alwine took 1st overall, and 1st in open light, at the NRL Hunter Series match.

This particular venue put hunters to the test by challenging them to extreme angles and shots from 160 to 1,110 yards, all while facing the area’s difficult wind conditions and terrain. Alwine nabbed the top spots for Team Savage at the match by shooting a 122 out of 128, making this an impressive win.

This first ever Sheep Mountain Shootout was in a beautiful Wyoming location, where the competition setting was open mountain terrain dotted with sage brush and conifers. Native wildlife for this area includes: Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep, Rocky Mountain Elk, Mule Deer, Antelope, Black Bear, Wolves, Coyotes, and Prairie Dogs. This new match proved to be an engaging one with beautiful sights, numerous game animals and challenging terrain.

Alwine of Team Savage knocked out the competition using a Savage 110 action and AccuTrigger. Other items on his equipment list included: an MDT HNT-26 Chassis “Mountain Forged Edition”, a Leupold Mark 5HD 5-25 x 56mm Riflescope, a Without Warning Tuner Muzzle Break, a Proof Research barrel in 6.5 Creedmoor and an MDT Cyke-Pod bipod.

“We’re proud to have Savage Arms represented by great shooters like Matt Alwine at events like this,” said Beth Shimanski, Director of Marketing at Savage Arms. “Any NRL Hunter Series Match is a thrilling event, and the Gunwerks’ Sheep Mountain Shootout proved to be no different. We look forward to more success in the future, and congratulate all of Team Savage.”

With this NRL Hunter Series Match win, Savage continues to set the bar high for matches in the 2023 season. Savage Team updates and more information on Savage’s extensive line of leading firearms is available at savagearms.com.
